The aims and objectives of the Journal are clearly set-forth in publishing results of original research in the broad areas of earth sciences and related themes include all aspects of our global geoheritage, geoparks and Geotourism. It also publishes special issues that focus on information and studies about a particular subject of earth sciences. Earth sciences has two major fundamental components, mass and energy, and understanding such a complex interplay needs input from other sciences such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, bio-sciences, environmental sciences, anthropology, etc. It is truly a multi-disciplinary subject with diversified applications.
Earth sciences in Iran have shown rapid development during the last few decades and the need for a platform to disseminate and share the new findings and results was being felt by the geoscientific community as a whole. The IJES is a step in this direction in assuming the responsibility to uphold the interest of the scientists by providing them opportunities to share the results and to interact with each other as well as with rest of the world. New data are being added regularly in the field of geosciences inIran; however, most of the publications are in Persian language, which makes the research less consequential at international or global level. This journal will act as a window for exchange of knowledge and information between Iranian geoscientists and rest of the world and offer a platform for interaction of Iranian geoscientists with their international colleagues. The IJES is an international journal and the results of research pertaining to geosciences from any part of the world are welcome. It is implied that all the papers submitted are based on original research and will have to undergo peer review as per the policy of the journal.
